As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting not only on the past twelve months but on nearly a decade of Wood Thilsted’s journey. 2025 marks our 10th anniversary, a significant milestone that inspires us to look back on how far we’ve come and refocus on the path forward.

When Christian and I founded Wood Thilsted, it was with a singular purpose: to accelerate the green energy transition. Why “green”? Because addressing climate resilience through a global energy transition must not come at the expense of the natural environment or the communities that depend on it. Sustainability, partnership, progressive engineering and environmental stewardship are the cornerstones of our mission.

2024: A Year of Progress Amidst Global Challenges

In a year marked by democratic change – with over half the world’s population going to the polls – and a turbulent macroeconomic environment, Wood Thilsted has remained steadfast in our commitment to advancing offshore wind and championing sustainability. Here are some of the key achievements that defined 2024 for us:

➡️ Certified as a B Corp™️: We joined a global community of forward-thinking companies as we officially became a certified B Corp. This certification reflects our commitment to driving positive change for people, communities and the planet.

➡️ Launching the Nature Inclusive JIP: We were proud to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with other pioneering companies and institutions to launch a Joint Industry Project (JIP) focused on advancing Nature Inclusivity in offshore wind farm design – a progressive and potentially game-changing initiative.

➡️ Delivering Market-Leading Insight: At key technical conferences and forums, we shared groundbreaking research, including the publication of Mark McAllister’s study on _Three-dimensional Wave Breaking _in the Nature Journal. This work sets new benchmarks in understanding complex wave dynamics, further advancing offshore engineering.

➡️ Supporting the SDGs: Partnering with the UN Global Compact Network UK, we participated in the “Fly the Flag” campaign, demonstrating our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework for creating a better future.

➡️ Delivering Foundations for Thor: We celebrated the successful delivery of the first batch of Wood Thilsted-designed monopiles for RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm. Once operational, this project will power over 1 million homes with clean, sustainable energy.

➡️ Accelerating Taiwan’s Low-Carbon Future: We supported COP and its project partners to complete Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm ahead of schedule. The Zhong Neng project will supply clean energy to approximately 300,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 550,000 tonnes annually.

➡️ Expanding Our Global Reach: To better serve the progressive offshore wind market in South Korea, we opened a new office in Seoul, bringing local expertise and global experience closer to our clients.

Looking Ahead to 2025: A Decisive Year for Green Energy

As we step into 2025, we recognise the urgency of the global energy transition. While 2024 brought a modest yet welcome return for offshore wind, this technology – so crucial to achieving governments’ net zero goals – must see accelerated deployment to meet critical 2030 milestones and keep the 2050 vision within reach.

At Wood Thilsted, we believe that the green energy transition is not just a possibility but a necessity. It is within our collective gift to deliver on this promise, and 2025 will be a defining year in our shared journey toward a sustainable future.

As we look forward to celebrating our 10th anniversary, we remain committed to our purpose and inspired by the opportunities ahead. Together with our partners, clients, people and communities, we look forward to shaping a greener energy future. Here’s to a transformative year ahead!

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to 2025!
