Wood Thilsted Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary at Forefront of Global Offshore Wind Engineering Sector

Key Milestone Illustrates Company’s Contribution to Offshore Wind Sector – a Key Driver of Net Zero Targets and Energy Security

3 November 2025, Copenhagen/London:  Wood Thilsted, a world-leading offshore wind engineering consultancy, is proud to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, marking a decade since its founding in November 2015 by CEO Alastair Muir Wood and CTO Christian LeBlanc Thilsted.

As part of the celebration, events will be held with colleagues, clients and partners across the company’s locations, including Copenhagen and London.

Since its inception, Wood Thilsted has played a pivotal role in advancing the global green energy transition. The company has delivered detailed designs for more than 13 GW of offshore wind capacity, helping shape the future of sustainable energy.

Today, Wood Thilsted is a team of over 180 talented professionals operating across Europe, Asia, and North America. Known for being a first mover in many of the markets it enters, the company consistently navigating local challenges, regulatory frameworks, and diverse design codes to deliver world-class engineering solutions.

Landmark projects that Wood Thilsted has worked on include:

  • Europe and UK – Thor, Dogger Bank and East Anglia Hub
  • United States – Vineyard Wind and Commonwealth Wind
  • APAC – Changfang and Xidau, Zhong Neng and Akita

Back in 2015, the offshore wind sector was at an inflection point.  Competitive auctions were reshaping the industry, demanding smarter, faster, and more cost-effective solutions to support larger developments, bigger turbines, and deeper waters.  Wood Thilsted was founded in response to these challenges, offering bespoke engineering solutions tailored to client needs.

From the outset, the company has focused on solving the complex challenges of an evolving industry and increasingly demanding subsea environments. Today, as the renewables sector matures, Wood Thilsted continues to anticipate client needs and deliver solutions that match their ambitions.

Sustainability and social responsibility have been embedded in the company’s DNA since day one. As a B Corp certified organisation, Wood Thilsted is committed to delivering enhanced client outcomes with positive global impacts.

Beyond the office, the Wood Thilsted team shares a strong passion for sailing and team-building activities – an ethos

that has helped galvanise the team over the past decade and strengthen the company’s mission and culture.

Alastair Muir Wood remarked:

“Back in 2015 as the offshore wind sector started to grow rapidly, we saw a need to serve clients who needed much more than a generic engineering consultancy and ‘off-the-shelf solutions’.  We identified that clients required offshore wind engineering specialists who were ready to tackle the tough challenges that the new sector was throwing at them.  Since then we have supported our clients by optimising business cases, enhancing performance, and solving real engineering challenges.  Our strength has been to assemble a world-class team of experts able to diagnose the real needs of our clients, offering best-in-class solutions.”

Christian LeBlanc Thilsted said:

“From the outset, Wood Thilsted set out to make a meaningful difference to the offshore wind sector by working on and developing the best projects, building trusted partnerships, creating digital tools that accelerate delivery and maximise value, and embedding sustainability into every solution.  Consequently, we built a business focused on innovative solutions and being a force for good.  We are incredibly proud of building a team that has shaped the future of global energy serving not just the European countries but new markets such as Australia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, and the USA.  Our goal for the next decade is to be a digitally-led company at the forefront of engineering, accelerating the energy transition through offshore wind and the adoption of other green energy technologies.
