Wood Thilsted is delighted to announce it has been recognised for its market leading advisory work by winning Technical Advisory of the year last night at the Wind Investment Awards 2023.
The Technical Advisory award is given for innovative solutions for projects over the last 12 months and was received in recognition on Wood Thilsted's collaborative and lifecycle approach to health and safety in foundation design and innovative engineering on projects across the globe.
With tough competition from some of the most established names in the industry, Wood Thilsted was recognized for its integrated approach to working with clients, in-house technology that has been put to use, and innovative perspective on problem solving. These have resulted in major changes to the industry such as the introduction of the split-level access platform for offshore wind turbines. This design allows for direct access from the service vessel to the turbine tower reducing service and maintanence time and, most importantly, vastly improving worker safety. Over the lifecyle of a project, this design optimisation removes the need for 1 million offshore lifts, eliminates manual handling of 20,000 tons of material and removes exposure to a 3-meter fall for 650 days.
Alastair Muir Wood, Wood Thilsted CEO and co-founder, said: "The Wind Investment Awards are some of the most competitive in the industry which gives even more credit to not just to our teams but also our clients and partners who we work so closely with to tackle some of the toughest design, fabrication and installation challenges in the industry."
Christian LeBlanc Thilsted, Wood Thilsted Technical Director and co-founder, said: "We'd like to thank the judges for acknowledging the ground-breaking approach that our teams take in delivering the best technical solutions for our clients and projects. The last 12 months has been another period of rapid change and growth for the industry, a challenge that motivates us to deliver continuous improvement every day.”
