Lineup of yellow monopiles awaiting installation

Primary Structures

WT's approach to primary structure design is second to none. Our industry leading approach to monopile design is equalled by our extensive expertise in jackets and our key role in developing floating foundations. Whether at an early screening stage, a detailed design stage or looking for a partner to support you through the lifecycle of a project, we can save you time and money. If just starting out, our integrated in-house load assessment capability includes aero-elastic analysis as part of a fully integrated assessment, alongside hydrodynamic loading and seismic effects. If in a later phase of a project, we cover all expected structural forms, from monopiles to gravity bases, and can tackle novel solutions on a first-principles basis. Whatever you need, wherever you are in the world, come and talk to us, we love a challenge!

Project Delivery

Offshore wind projects are highly complex, which is why WT’s Project Delivery division brings together project directors with decades of experience to ensure the highest level of project governance and focus on risk reduction to assure project delivery on budget and time. Unlike other consultancies, WT directors play an integral role in the delivery and decision making in our projects using the principle of constructive support. That means three things, 1) using WT’s exceptional experience in Offshore Wind to assist and guide clients in the face of whatever challenges arise during a project. 2) rather than reacting, WT Project Managers work to actively manage risks ahead of time in order to deliver on priorities. 3) using smart tools to ensure clients have all the management information they need when they need it in whatever system they need it. In other words we're looking out for you so you don't end up in uncharted waters, but if the unexpected does happen, don't worry we can help. Just ask our clients about their positive feedback.

Transport & Installation

Wood Thilsted's combination of integrated in-house expertise, combined with global and local experience, means no design is ever presented to a client that can't be effectively and efficiently installed. What's more if you have a design that you just need to make happen, we can work with you to ensure transport and installation is as cost effective and as smooth as possible. We're contractor agnostic so whomever you ask us to support we can work with them to ensure precise locations are optimal, adjust boundaries or fine-tune their proposed methodology. As with everything at Wood Thilsted we're always looking ahead and so within this team, we also analyse and design floating structures. So if you are also looking ahead come and talk to us about how we use Orcaflex combined with our own technologies to design the energy transition.

Nick is a Principal Offshore Engineer with over 22 years professional experience in the UK, the Middle East and Australia in the offshore, coastal and marine environments. Nick's consultancy experience has included a varied workload of Met Ocean modelling and analysis, coastal structure design, numerical modelling, coastal and maritime EIA and marine survey. Nick is proficient in the use of the MIKE by DHI models, with a particular expertise in the application of wave, sediment and flow models to coastal & ocean environments. In addition Nick has expertise in the use of GIS and hydrographic survey packages. Typically his responsibilities include project director and technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects. As part of this role he is often valuable in developing outcome focused projects, through effective communication with key parties from environmental scientists, modellers through structural engineers to lay persons involved as stakeholders.
Dennis Hindhede

Dennis Hindhede

Director and Chief Consultant

Dennis has been working with offshore foundation design for several years and has extensive knowledge of the offshore substructure and foundation industry across multiple phases. A highly analytical professional, he has experience with different design methods to improve the cost-effectiveness and mitigate the critical parameters offshore foundations. He has been working with a wide range of technical aspects through various activities across the project phases as Lead Engineer for the primary steel foundation design and as Load Package Lead.
CBR

Cameron Brown

Chief Consultant

Cameron is experienced in the analysis of floating and bottom fixed offshore wind turbines. He is a specialist in load analysis of offshore wind turbines for design evaluation and optimization of operational assets. He has vast experience in modelling and model validation of monopile, jacket and floating offshore wind turbine structures. Cameron has strong experience in metocean studies and design basis documentation. Applying his strong understanding of the impact of metocean inputs on the loads on the turbine and sub-structure, he is capable of finding the right balance of load calculation effort and design load optimization.
Bruna de Queiroz

Bruna de Queiroz

Lead Scientist (Metocean)

Bruna is a Lead Metocean Engineer with wide-ranging experience in practical applications of oceanography. At WT, Bruna has been providing metocean expertise to a large portfolio of offshore wind projects. This included developing of Site Conditions Assessment (input for Design Basis part A1) for a range of development phases (e.g., from early/concept stage, to detailed design), wind resource and energy yield assessments, and advisory role on the development and management of metocean measurements and hindcast modelling strategies, as well as sediment mobility, scour assessment and scour protection design. Bruna has particular interest on combining the wind resource and metocean disciplines, with the aim to reduce the uncertainties on design. Bruna is also the team lead of the Climate, Analytics and Metocean team within WT. Bruna also completed a MSc in Coastal and Marine Engineering which resulted in a peer-reviewed publication.
